WOLCOTT MILL METROPARK

64162 Kunstman Road, Ray Township

In this section of Wolcott Mill, visitors can find a variety of resident species such as warblers, Baltimore and Orchard orioles and various blackbirds in season. The open grassland areas provide habitat for Eastern Meadowlark and Savannah Sparrows. Fox and Vesper Sparrows have been recorded at this location, as well.

Spring and fall migration brings warblers, flycatchers, thrushes and gnatcatcher species to Wolcott Mill. During the summer, visitors can find nesting Eastern Phoebes and Ruby-throated hummingbirds, as well as kingfishers, swifts and swallows along the river. Winter species can include Common Redpolls, Snow Buntings, nuthatches and chickadees. Rare species seen at Wolcott Mill include Rusty Blackbirds, Common Gallinule, Short-eared Owls and Pileated Woodpeckers.
